About Strossner's Bakery

For over 60 years, Strossner's Bakery has been a tradition in Greenville, South Carolina. What was once a small corner bakery, making memories for many families, has evolved into a modern bakery and café, catering, and flower & gift shop.

In the early 1940’s before going into business for himself, Richard Strossner was a Pastry Chef in Greenville S.C. for the Historic Poinsett Hotel. He was a German immigrant who became a Baker Konditor at age 14. He found his way to America by becoming a pastry chef on a cruise ship. Tired of traveling he acquired a position at the Poinsett Hotel where he met his wife Beatrice. Together in 1947 they created Strossner’s Bakery, who’s delectable confections still make memories for Greenville’s growing population.

In the late 1970’s Richard Strossner Jr.(Dick Strossner) took over ownership of the business, with the help of his wife Mary, this second generation entrepreneur has expanded the bakery to include a successful florist, catering service and dine in café. Dick’s sister Frieda Robinson tends to the office and keeping things rolling in the kitchen are Swiss head baker Connie Jud, award winning cake decorator Susan Kelly and premier bread baker Jerry Jarosz.

Keeping true the German culture Strossners now hosts an annual Oktoberfest where soft pretzels and beer flow freely and customers can enjoy authentic Schnitzel, Spaetzel, Apple Strudel, and so much more. A genuine Oompah band entertains the masses to the tune of 1000 people and growing.

So if you find yourself in Greenville S.C. stop in and see & taste for yourself the traditions that make Strossners Bakery, Florist, Catering, Café the fabulous one of a kind experience that will keep you coming back for more.
